How to access & evaluate your freshly designed website

Website Development Complete

Enter; Evaluation Phase

First off, congratulations on your newly designed website! We strive to design and develop each Idea Swell website with the absolute most advanced tech and fully custom graphics.

Evaluation & Feedback

Prior your site going live to the public we want to make sure you have been given the opportunity to give the site a thorough evaluation. This evaluation period can take anywhere from a few hours to a week. Please reference your contract or the email which lead you to this post (assuming you are in fact an IdeaSwell client) to determine your evaluation phase length.

Step 1: Login

Please visit the link provided to your admin login URL. The default would normally be www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin. However, for security purposes we change this to make your admin panel harder to find by potentials hackers.

Use the username and password you were supplied. You may have been sent an email with a link that would have brought you to create a password. Either way, you are now on to step 2.

Step 2: Visit the Site

Welcome to your admin panel! At this stage, we strongly suggest that you do not attempt to make changes in the admin panel just yet. In fact, you are likely limited on what you can do for now.

Hover over the home icon and click on 'visit site'
Click on ‘Visit Site’ to view your newly designed website.

Hover over the small home icon & name of your website to display a drop-down menu. On that drop-down menu; click “Visit Site”.

Welcome to your new website

And viola! You are now viewing your newly designed website.

After this phase, you will be given editor access and you will be able to make your own changes to the site content. You will be given a link to the tutorial and how-to video on how to edit your site content once the next phase begins.

Why not just give you access to make your own edits now?

Simple answer: you can break things. We already have a backup of your site at this point but we prefer to have a finalized backup of your website, at a point where it has gone live to the public, prior to giving clients edit access. This way, if while editing you manage to break something we can revert to a backup when the website was live, so it may stay live, without us having to take the site down from public view to make the fix.

How to evaluate

Here’s the best way to evaluate your new site and give feedback so we can make changes efficiently

If an Idea Swell client, you were likely given a list of URLs that looks something like this:

The list we supplied should have all the pages of your website.

Please copy/paste this list into a text editor and go through each page, giving feedback such as:

Home
https://www.ideaswell.com/

Please change this paragraph:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum

to this

please fix spelling error of “theinsights” (no need to specify exact location as we can do a page search to find the instance)
